A goverment backed business certification scheme focussed on mitigating your exposure to internet born cyber-threats.

Cyber Essentials is a government backed business certification scheme focussed on mitigating your exposure to internet born cyber-threats. This scheme has been specifically designed to assist organisations implement basic, yet effective, protections against cyber-attack. By achieving Cyber Essentials, you demonstrate to your customers that you take cyber seriously and that your business meets the requirements of a government-endorsed standard.

Cyber Essentials Scheme

The Cyber Essentials Scheme operates at two levels:

Cyber Essentials – an independently verified self-assessment. Organisations assess themselves against 5 core security controls. The information is then submitted for a qualified assessor to verify the answers provided. Successful completion of this stage entitles you to display the Cyber Essentials logo on your website.

Cyber Essentials Plus – a higher level of assurance. A  qualified and independent assessor examines the same five controls, testing that they work in practice by simulating basic hacking and phishing attacks.

Cyber Essentials is increasingly being requested by the UK government, including the MoD and commercial contractors. MoD are specifically keen that their suppliers and their supply chains are compliant with this scheme.

For 2021, Proelium Law has also completed the IASME Governance. The IASME Governance standard allows us to demonstrate our level of cyber security and indicates that we are taking good steps to properly protect our clients’ information. The IASME Governance assessment includes a Cyber Essentials assessment and GDPR requirements and is available either as a self assessment or on-site audit.
