The Proelium Law weekly country assessment for the use of our clients, colleagues and contacts is now released.  Focusing on Iraq/Syria, Libya and Afghanistan/Pakistan this report will be updated weekly on a Wednesday.

Afghanistan Security Brief

If you’re travelling around Afghanistan, particularly outside Kabul, you should seek professional security advice and continually reassess your personal security. The British Embassy in Kabul operates under strict security protocols and staff receive regular security briefings to enable them to carry out their work in as safe an environment as possible.

Libya Security Brief

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advise against all travel to Libya due to the ongoing fighting, threat of terrorist attacks and kidnap against foreigners, including from Daesh-affiliated extremists (formerly referred to as ISIS), and a dangerous security situation throughout the country.

Syria Security Brief

WARNING: Travel to Syria is VERY STRONGLY DISCOURAGED due to an ONGOING CIVIL WAR. Since 2011, unrest within the country has continued to intensify and nearly 300,000 people have been killed. Government security forces and the various rebel groups are engaged in open warfare in many rural and urban areas.

Pakistan Security Brief

The presence of several foreign and indigenous terrorist groups poses a danger throughout Pakistan (not in The Capital). Across the country, terrorist attacks frequently occurred against civilians, government, and a very few foreigners.

Iraq Security Brief

The MASC advise against all but essential travel to the rest of Iraq, including the remainder of the Kurdistan region.
The ongoing civil war in Syria has provided space for Daesh to expand and the group declared a caliphate in seized territory in Iraq and Syria in June 2014.

Turkmenistan Security Brief

There is a low threat from terrorism, but you should be aware of the global risk of indiscriminate terrorist attacks, which could be in public places, including those frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers.

Iran Security Brief

After years of economic and political isolation, renewed negotiations regarding Iran’s nuclear status and capability have lifted the sanctions on the country. That said, Iran has given strong support to revolutionary and militant groups within the middle east, creating distrust among its neighbours.
