In order to protect all EU citizens from privacy and data breaches the General Data Protection Regulation (‘GDPR’) was approved by the EU Parliament on 14 April 2016. The EU GDPR replaces the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC and is perceived as the “most important change in data privacy regulation in 20 years”.
